The problems we face are not objective, absolute, intractable but are created by the mind. Please ponder this. Is the earth giving us trouble? Are the winds and waves and sunlight and motions of sand and soil plaguing us? No, it is we who are causing the trouble. It is we who are attempting to create a world, not based on anything but imagination and substance-less assumptions. And the most tenacious of all those assumptions is "I am the body/mind/beliefs/ego." But deep within us all is a power to discern with conviction and authority, what is actually true. This is the heart. Discover this, cross the abyss created by the mind and once again we will be a friend to all life.

We live in a world of constant change. Indeed change, innovation, the latest version, newness, novelty is heralded with great anticipation when announced and celebrated when it arrives.

Every self-help product on the planet promises some sort of transformation. Nobody wants things to stay the same... unless we do.

If only I could control things so well that they were always the way I wanted them to be... sigh...

All this conversation is concerned with BECOMING. Even the desire for a stable state, in which all is unicorns and rainbows, is part of the becoming disposition.

We do keep trying but, shouldn't the constant failure to keep things the same (which we have been at for literally thousands of years) be enough to at least suggest that it "ain't nevah gonna happen."

But what about BEING? the verb "to be"...

How does one practice spirituality? It is a big question. There are so many options, so many differing approaches, so many competing points of view.

As someone who has a lot of videos on YouTube and gets lots of comments, I can attest to the wide range of ideas that are presented, some with great conviction and fervor. In the market place of ideas we can easily be overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and endless stream of "latest and greatest."

But the questions I get more most often of all is the question "HOW TO?"

How do I awaken?

How do I meditate?

How can I heal this?

How can I deal with my family, boyfriend, spouse, children, ex-spouse, employer, life situations of all kinds?

Arrrrrggggg, where do I start?

OK, this is just one blog and one episode of OM School Live, so I can't address all of this in one sitting.

So I am going to start with, what to me, is the most essential of all beginning practices.

It is the essence of meditation

It is the essence of energy healing

It is even the essence of personal development...
