Down, down, down...
Into the deep well—
No one to catch, no one to tell...
The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel
And then—dip—no light, no funnel
Bookshelves, maps, and a jar of marmalade
(But the jar was empty, the dark unafraid)
Falling slow, like a dream in reverse
“Curiouser and curiouser” — a whispered curse
The world turns over, the floor is the sky
And the air tastes of ash and lullaby
Then a flicker—a label—DRINK ME—cold
A liquid like moonlight, a story unsold
Her lips to the glass, her hand starts to shake
The room begins breathing... for goodness' sake
Enter the Wonderland — shrink to a pin
The floor is a ceiling, the walls close in
A river of tears from a giant's chin
And the key on the table — too small to spin
Enter the Wonderland — stretch, break, and mend
A door in the curtain, a world without end
But the lock is a whisper, the hinge is a sigh
And something is watching with a marble-white eye
Now a garden of glass and a three-legged chair
A bottle marked “DRINK ME” waiting there
She sips—she shrinks—she's ten inches high
The key floats above like a mocking fly
She slips—she slides—on the polished floor
The door is a crack, then nothing more
A cake on a platter: “EAT ME” in blue
She tastes—she grows—the room splits in two
“I shall be late! I shall be late!”
A rustle of velvet behind the grate
A waistcoat, a watch, a panicked breath
The first small herald of nonsense and death
He's gone.
He's gone.
He's gone.
Down, down, down...
Into the well...
No one to catch...
No one to tell...
Enter the Wonderland
Enter the Wonderland
(Tick... tock...)
