Stewart Vernon is the Founder and CEO of ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company, the nation’s largest swimming pool cleaning, repair, and renovation franchise system.  Vernon, as the company CEO, is responsible for the day to day operations of the franchise company, which include Public Relations, brand management, vendor relationships, financial planning and strategic oversight of his staff.  Vernon also serves currently as the CFO of the company.

Founded in Macon Georgia in 2002, the business was born out of the need to provide a higher quality swimming pool company to customers in Vernon’s hometown. Rajan Chopra was born and raised in New Delhi, India. After undergrad studies, he left India and went to Stockholm University in Sweden to earn his MBA. While getting his degree, he held down three jobs: dishwasher, waiter and subway attendant. It was the only way he could support himself and contribute to his family back home. The experience shaped his core values – integrity, compassion and hard work.

He graduated from the MBA program with honors and was recruited by Price Waterhouse Coopers in Stockholm. After two years, the firm awarded him a transfer to its head office in New York.

In the early ‘80s, he joined JP Morgan Chase on Wall Street. It was an exciting period in finance. Interest rate and currency derivatives were being created. Only a handful of professionals understood them. Together, with a few of the brightest minds in the business, Rajan found myself at the epicenter of trading and developing derivatives instruments and markets.

And so started a long and rewarding 30-year career in trading. In between stints on Wall Street, he had senior C-suite roles at public and private companies, founded or co-founded businesses, and served as an advisor to senior executives and CEOs.

Trading and entrepreneurship teach life lessons. One experiences a vast amount of situations and human behaviors in these pressure-filled environments. There’s little room for pretense, indecision, and B.S. They say traders and entrepreneurs die a few times each day and are reborn stronger.  They learn to deal with adversity and achieve balance.  This is certainly true for Rajan.

He has worked with traders, brokers, hedge fund managers, bankers, attorneys, C-suite executives at large and small organizations. He knows what they face. He understands how they think. He was one of them and has effectively dealt with those challenges.

A strategic thinker with a curious mind, Rajan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi, his graduate degree from Stockholm University and was certified an executive coach by the University of Miami.

Rajan currently resides in Miami where he is actively involved in a bevy of community and philanthropic endeavors including leadership and supporting roles with the New World Symphony, Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami and Miami International Film Festival.
