  • Podcast 149: Jeet Banerjee: A Man Who Knew He Couldn't Be An Employee So Created His Own Life

Today's guest is a man who seems a person born to be an entrepreneur, although like many of us he forgot this was the case, and meandered without direction for quite awhile.

As a young boy of nine, he became fascinated by the worldwide web and the possibilities that it offered.

He was stimulated by the constantly changing online landscape, and so went into business creating his first website "Powerdunk"

He had taken entreprenurial action and dived headfirst into the online world.

However he didn't then become a CEO of his own company, hiring and firing adults, webdevelopers and other employees with abandon.

Instead he quickly forgot his blossoming business, and became what we would say "A normal kid".

Fun and mischief was the order of the day, and would have continued if his parents hadn't insisted that he entered the family business to earn a dollar or two, and this parental push turned out to be the making of him.

He learnt so many things, such as sales, invoicing, marketing to name just a few whilst working for his parents, it was a masterclass in entrepreneurial ventures.

But the most important lesson, was not something taught, but something that he discovered deep within himself.

He hated being an employee and working for someone else.

And that realisation took him back to his nine year old self, and the entrepreneur that he was born to be resurfaced and he has never looked back.

And now after creating and selling businesses, and coaching others as to the steps it takes to win online, he has found his true path in life.

So does he look back to Power dunk and think "Man I could have created something astonishing!"

Did he struggle with telling his parents that he didn't want to work with them any more?

Well lets find out as I bring onto the show, to start joining up dots, the one and only Jeet Banerjee.

  • Podcast 148: Nick Gray: A Man Bringing The Museum Experience To Life

Have you ever been on a school trip to a museum and after the initial “Yayyyy! We’re out of school” wore off, found the whole thing a bit boring.

Loads and loads of statues, stuffed animals, or tiny little plaques to read, which you start off with the best intentions of reading them all and then start gazing at them with blank eyeballs.

As you wonder why you ate your sandwiches so early?

Well I know that I have, and so its with great regret for me personally, but a huge delight for the people of New York, that one man has taken it on himself to bring these institutions to life for the latest generation.

Yep, like Ben Stiller in the “Night of the Museum” films, he alongside his colleagues run daily tours through the The Met and the Museum of Natural History acting scenes, telling stories and generally making it all fun.

As he says on his site “Museum Hacks” he loves nothing more than when someone says to him”That was the most fun I have ever had in a museum”

But like all overnight success stories, his is one of stumbles and falls, successes and failures, not least working for 8 years in his family business, making a film of him and his Dad in Thailand, and even appearing tin he Oscar nominated, record shattering, American Pie 2….ok it might not have won him an a Oscar, and actually his scene didn’t end up in the film either.

So let’s find out how Museum Hack can together.

What it was like working for his parents for 8 years?

And of course can he still remember the famous lines that now only appear on the American Pie 2 directors cut?

Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, the one and only Mr Nick Gray

  • Podcast 177: James Nord: A Man Who Desires To be Great And Wears A Tie Everyday

Todays guest is a man who takes fashion very seriously.

Unlike the majority of men in the world who throw on a few items, and that is the grooming done, he prides himself on looking not just like he got dressed, but that he was designed for the event.

Even to wearing a tie at the weekend….yep I kid you not.

His image is one of sophisticated class, and so its not a surprise that with a love of looking good, his career has moved towards the fashion industry since arriving in New York City.

A dreamer, and a thinker, he seems to have a naturally strong competitive streak, that has run through much of his life since growing up in Georgia.

If he is going to do something then he doesn’t want to be just of those guys that is happy to simply be taking part. He wants to win.

He excelled at wrestling, and racquetball and for a while was almost invincible at both but just fell short at greatness and state recognition.

But it is fascinating to see someone’s life come together in such a way that you can see the elements he displayed early on his life being displayed with such force.

He has moved through jobs at quite a speed, not staying much longer than a year at most, but all the while learning the skills, and fine tuning the talents which has led him along with his business partner Richard to launch Fohr card.

They founded Fohr card with the purpose of bringing together two groups of people who share a love for storytelling, creative bloggers and creative brands.

Alone, each can create beautiful stories.

Together they believe they can create even greater ones.

It is that passion to connect and inspire which is the corner stone to everything that he does.

So what is about visuals and storytelling that so thrills him daily?

And where does he see his vision developing in the future?

Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, probably the most well dressed man I have ever had on, the one and only Mr James Nord.

  • Archive 189: Julie Busha: A Lady Who Is "Slaw" She Made The Right Career Choice

Todays guest is a lady who claims that she has never had a bad job, even though she spent several semesters helping students cut open and poke around in cats and pigs.

Yes, I think that is the first time that I have had that fact in an introduction.

But that isn't one of those facts that define her, but the fact that this lady knows how to hustle certainly does.

When it comes to getting the work done, she is willing to put in the hours, and believes wholeheartedly that the only way to reap the rewards that your life deserves is by taking the old leap of faith.

And that is what she has done, she leapt and kept flexing the hustle muscle everyday since leaving her corporate gig and going it alone.

And with a history of working in a sports marketing company, where she worked with many Fortune 500 clients, starting with IMG and most recently leading the marketing efforts for an agency owned by NASCAR driver, she knew how to get a product to market.

But its ok, knowing how to do this if someone else is footing the bill.

But what if you have the idea for a product and have to get it into the hands of the consumers yourself?

Well, in 2011 she used her branding, marketing and sales experience to launch such a product and Slawsa, a unique slaw-salsa hybrid condiment was born.

And within two years after launch, the product could be found on the shelves of over 5,200 stores in the U.S. and Canada with rave reviews from critics and consumers alike.

What makes her story even more fascinating, is that even though this might be deemed as a success, she was then willing to take Slawsa and drop it into ABC's Shark Tank for the sharks to fight over?

Did she get investment? Did she come out of the waters intact?

Well lets find out as we bring onto the show, to start joining up dots, with the one and only Julie Busha.

  • Archive 187: Caroline Casey: How To Take Action & Smash Goals When Visibly Impaired

Todays guest joining us on todays Steve Jobs inspired podcast is an astonishing lady who delivers, positivity and inspiration to the world everyday of her life.

Born with ocular albinism – a condition that has made her legally blind, she managed to hide the issues with her vision until well into her 20’s from her employers, friends and I guess the world.

More amazingly, is the fact that she had been legally blind since a child, but it wasn’t until she was 17 that she actually realised it fully too.

Her parents upon finding out their newborn daughter had been born with the condition decided that they wouldn’t tell her, as they believed that it would result in both her and others placing limits on what she could achieve in life.

And so she lived with the condition, for over ten years, as she graduated and joined an international consultancy firm.

But the time came when her eyes deteriorated so much, that she could no longer hide it anymore, and the time would come to change direction, and with that direction set out to change opinions across the world.

And I love this about her story, but the realisation of what she should do next in her life came on the top of an elephant whilst travelling 1,000 miles across the country raising funds for Sight Savers.

She decided that she would create the non profit organisation Kanchi, named after that very same elephant, that aims to change the attitudes and behaviours towards people with disability by working with business leaders, helping them to see these people as assets to be developed.

And now as her star continues to shine brighter and brighter she is highly sought after as an inspirational speaker the world over.

So how do you manage from the top of an elephant to see a path that is literally life changing and have the courage to tackle it head on?

And where does she feel the most work still needs to be done, as the world accepts and embraces disability in its many forms?

Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, the one and only solopreneur Caroline Casey

  • Archive 186: Chuck Hester: A Solopreneur Showing The World How To Smash LinkedIn

Todays guest is a man who believes that one of the best ways to create an income and business is to provide massive value to everyone you meet, and he fully subscribes to the “Pay It Forward” methodology.

And when it comes to using social media he believes wholeheartedly that this is the only way to go about building your valued network too.

Not by taking personal action to smash every goal that he sets.

As he says ”I live by the pay it forward lifestyle – if you are helped, don’t help that person, instead “pay it forward” to someone else in need.

The blessing will come back to you!”

And as an expert on how to utilise LinkedIn, he has for the last ten years travelled the country advising and presenting to eager attendees on how to make the most of this business resource, which lets be honest not many of us really know how to do for best results.

But that is just one side of his life, as with 30 years spent in PR and Marketing and a published Amazon bestseller “Linking In to Pay it Forward: Changing the Value Proposition in Social Media” he is a man on a mission.

So was this way of operating always in him, or did he come to a conclusion that this was the best way to do things?

And is he surprised at how little people actually harness the power of LinkedIn?

Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only, Mr Chuck Hester.
