With a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, she revolutionized teaching by integrating art, music, dance, and drama to engage underprivileged students worldwide. Beyond education, she has tirelessly championed human rights, successfully intervening in cases across the former Soviet Union, China, South Africa, and beyond to secure freedom for dissidents and prevent executions. As President of the Malta Conferences Foundation, she leverages science diplomacy to foster peace in the Middle East. Honored with more than 40 international awards—including the Presidential Award for Mentoring, AAAS Award for Science Diplomacy, and APS Andrei Sakharov Prize—she has been repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Her memoir, Human Rights and Peace: A Personal Odyssey, was published in 2024, and in 2025 she received the prestigious International Advocate for Peace Award, joining past recipients such as Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
