My guest today is a man who many might say simply ducked out of his responsibilities and walked away from everything that was making him unhappy.

I would never say that, as this guy is an expert on happiness.

A trained engineer Adam, decided that happiness was the most important state of all, and one that he could quite simply engineer by focusing solely on the things that he knew would make him happy.

Incorporating Volunteering, Learning, Teaching, Storytelling and Empowerment he has created a life that is nothing short of inspirational.

As his website The Happiness Plunge states “He has been Happy and homeless for 918 days”

Being happy day after day sounds like a pretty good way to be to me.

Our guest today is someone who doesn't realise what he can't do. If you give him an obstacle or challenge he doesn't just go round it, he literally smashes it to pieces. During his college football career he led the way in unassisted tackles in a season and set an all time record for most unassisted tackles in a game (21). And this was from a guy who everyone thought was a little bit small to make his mark on the game To be honest I'm from England so that means nothing to me, but it sounds very impressive. What is even more impressive, and this time I can understand it is how he took these athletic performances, will to win, and inability to know his limitations, and created a way of tackling things head on in business and in his own life too. Some people are born to make money.

Others are born to provide value to others.

Our guest today was born to do both.

From his early days in school, he knew how to hustle, zigging whilst others zagged, zoning in on opportunities whilst others looked the other way.

He made money as a young man, and knew that this was the way he wanted his life to be.

But life in school is I suppose “Childs play” compared to what is in store when the high school bell rings for the last time, and your thrust out into the big wide world to fend for yourself.

Our guest knew this and before even leaving high school, was creating a path that would lead him to where he is today.

By enrolling into an MLM course, he learnt the skills of rapport building and developed the ability to create connections with people from all forms of life.

This is probably the most important skill that any entrepreneur could hope to have.

But although a huge step in the right direction, he was making very little money, so knew he had to take a step into the unknown and accept a level of risk that he hadn’t before.

This risk came when he realised that there was opportunities galore in real estate, and before long, with a huge list of tenants paying him rent from properties he owned, he was a paper millionaire.

Not bad for someone only in the 20’s.

However the phrase “Learn to expect the unexpected” could have had been a very useful mantra to have, as boom time literally disappeared overnight.

In 2008 the real estate crash occurred, and forced our guest into bankruptcy.

Despondent, depressed and broke, he had two choices..

One to say goodbye to the good life and settle into a life of “What Ifs” and “Broken Dreams”

Or he could fight back, and restore himself to previous glories.

And in today’s episode we will discuss just how someone could find the mental strength to go once more, after life had been so cruel and indiscriminate with its finger of fate.

My guest today is a man who has taken a huge amount of action and I suppose risk in the last five months, and that is why I just had to have him on todays show.

And day after day since then he has been doing everything he can to earn enough to remain free from corporate America.

But strangely enough until today I have never met him or spoke to him live either.

Tom spent the beginning of his childhood in the Chicagoland and West Michigan areas, and then with all his Morkes siblings…three brothers and three sisters gained his education at the United States Military Academy at West Point NY.

Upon graduating he decided that there was a further step to go in his military life and was deployed to Iraq as a gun truck platoon leader.

You might have thought after so many years in an organised, structured environment such as the military, he would cling to a safe, organised future.

But our guest thought otherwise and set off on entrepreneurial path that has seen him write three books, become the president of his own publishing company, and generally having a kick ass life.

He travels the world with his lovely wife Courtney, his trusty laptop, and now on today’s podcast interview shares with us, the fears, achievements and success that has made up his life.
