“Environment of Change: The Law” is a devotional drawn from 1 Timothy 1:8–11 (NLT), with special attention to verse 8: “We know that the law is good when used correctly.” In this devotional, we explore how God’s law fits into the life of the believer today.
The law does not save us, but it does reveal where we fall short. It exposes our sin, our ignorance, and our need for repentance. With 613 Mosaic laws, it becomes clear that we could never perfectly keep every command—reminding us that we need a Savior. Scripture teaches that the law is directed toward those who rebel and refuse to accept who God is, yet it still serves a holy purpose for all: it shows us the difference between right and wrong.
Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. For those who follow Christ, the law is no longer a source of fear or condemnation but a guide that points us toward a life that pleases God. In this “environment of change,” we learn to let the law do what it was designed to do—reveal sin, lead us to repentance, and direct us toward living in a way that reflects the heart and character of Christ.
