Envy is a vestige of the Fall. It is part of the "Sel" family of sins (they all are) and is insidious in its grasp on our soul. It was envy that got Satan thrown out of heaven, Adam and Eve thrown out of Eden, Joseph thrown into a cistern, Daniel thrown into a pit with lions, and Jesus thrown into hell - on our behalf. To fight envy, we need to keep in mind this Biblical challenge: Do not perspire to acquire, but live to give!
