EP 018 Carylynn Larson: How Perfectionism Affects your Ability to be Coached

Adaptability is a key characteristic of leadership, and perfectionism can interfere with one’s ability to adapt. As a leadership coach, Carylynn (Cary) Kemp Larson sees different degrees of perfectionism with all of her clients and knows that if you are a perfectionist, it’s difficult to be satisfied in many areas of your personal or work life or to reach your next goals. 
Cary works with leaders across all organization levels from senior executives to team leads. She has coached in Health and Human Services, pharmaceuticals, science and technology manufacturing. She has extensive experience working with scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
Cary holds a PhD in organizational psychology from George Mason University, and a certificate in leadership coaching from Georgetown. She’s also been an adjunct faculty position that George Mason, George Washington, the US Naval Academy, and American University. 
In our conversation, Cary speaks about expectations for those being coached and how coaching at the senior level works. Highlights include:
