FitzChivalry gets an introduction to the Mountain Kingdom from the gardens, statues, colorful buildings, and all the way to the tree-grown palace. Fitz is waited upon and gets his first glimpse of the royal family of King Eyod, Rurisk and Kettricken. Fitz tries to navigate and regain his footing when his secret is revealed. He stumbles his way back his tent to reflect on the next steps of his mission and to contemplate death and hatred.
