This week, the boys had the immense pleasure of having a sit down with a true legend, for those lucky enough to have served with her, in the Army Black Hawk Medevac community. You’ll agree that her resume and high functioning abilities seem only natural by products of her demeanor and unstoppable approach to life at large. Something we can all glean from! Major Taylor Ridge is a current transitioning Aeromedical Evacuation Officer who served 11 years holding multiple key leadership roles in and out of the cockpit. The most notable, and impactful in the community were as a U.S. Army Medevac Pilot in Command and Company Commander. Luckily for us, Raf had the serendipitous fortune of having served under Taylor, and deployed to Afghanistan together in 2015. More than a great Army officer, Tylor is the complete package to what leadership demands. Always fighting to keep a positive outlook, especially in the face of fierce adversity! Her ability to articulate well made her approachable. More importantly, the soldiers that served with her, always knew she was there to protect them, above all. In the military, when people single you out as a leader they respect, naturally, you earn a nickname.. Enter Mama Llama! The shadow governor to the Combat Llamas, a legendary Air Medevac platoon in its own right. In this condensed window we make a concerted effort to unpack everything Taylor’s accomplished, and understand the nuances of why some things came easy to her, while others took a turn. You’ll be left speechless after you hear some of the stories involving Black Hawk crash and when she recounts the moment being shot while responding to a medevac mission. Undoubtedly, you’ll be left wanting to hear more of her story, because we certainly did!
Please share your thoughts about this episode and more importantly, we hope this encourages our listeners to think of the strong women around them. We love reading your insights, feedback, and hopefully some recommendations for strong women to join this series!
