* Alex’s background and motivation: Alex has 22 years of experience in AI, working for Facebook, Wit.ai, and Virtuoz. He decided to pivot to healthcare after seeing the gap between the AI research and the real-world problems. He was inspired by his mentor, Yann LeCun, to build useful products based on AI. He chose to focus on solving the administrative burden of physicians, which he saw as a prerequisite to earn their trust and improve their well-being.

* Nabla’s product and impact: Nabla’s product is called Copilot, which is a device that listens to the physician-patient consultation and generates a clinical note automatically. It integrates with the EHR and other systems, and adapts to the physician’s workflow and preferences. It saves one to two hours per day per physician, and also reduces stress and burnout. It also improves patient engagement and adherence, as it provides clear and detailed instructions to the patient after the visit.

* Nabla’s differentiation and future roadmap: Nabla differentiates itself from other vendors by having a product-led growth model, where it pushes the product directly to the physicians, rather than through the health systems. It also has a strong focus on privacy, security, and compliance, as it does not store any patient data, and uses federated learning to train its models. It also has a very fast and high-quality note generation, and a proactive Copilot that can suggest actions during the consultation. In the future, Nabla plans to expand its scope to other aspects of care, such as diagnostics, clinical decision support, and patient education.
