Today we consider the reality underneath the surface of things in the story of the mother of Christ. What it might mean to be a girl given care of all the power in the universe? Did she grasp what she was signing onto? Was she capable of holding the deep truth of her calling?

Today we imagine that she was aware, that she envisioned the depth of her own calling. And we spend a little time considering how we might live into our own stories, even when the story is not one we were expecting.
