The parallel stories show that the ways to live excellent lives are the same regardless of one's station. You are who your are because of how you relate to others. Giving to these others, through shared virtue, excellence, duty, grace, and Christian service, produces great Joy, whether you are a monarch or a mother, a head of state or the head of a household.
