Solungen Edvard Østmo var gullgraveren som ble sørstatssoldat. Han slo seg ned i en øde kommune i delstaten Iowa, sammen med mange solunger. Også hans egne firmenninger, Gunerius og Theodor Hundbu. Begge to ble også soldater i den amerikanske borgerkrigen. Dette er deres historie.
