Women’s AFL in Queensland is growing at an impressive rate, and it’s largely thanks to the dedication of people like Brisbane Lions AFLW skipper, Emma Zielke. She joins Damo in the studio this week to chat about the development of the women’s game, the platform that the sport has provided as well as the steps it has to take to continue growing.  

Having formed the inaugural Coorparoo Women’s team in 2013, ‘Zielks’ as she’s affectionately known, has been a cult figure in the women’s game. Whether it’s her ongoing support and mentoring of girls learning the game, or her continued commitment in being an active voice in the promotion and growth of the AFLW and women’s football, Emma has paved a way for women nationally to strive for their sporting dreams.  

Zielke speaks on the importance of perseverance in overcoming injuries, the steps the AFL need to take to help the women’s competition reach greater heights and all her successes along the way.
