Typically, leadership progresses through three main stages—the first, second, and third stages. However, most leaders relate to what they see externally as a reflection of the same stage of leadership they are currently operating from. In other words, someone in the second stage might look at what a third stage practitioner is doing and see it as no different from what he is doing.
