Join me on today's episode of the Master Delegator Podcast as I talk about the importance of taking a break and allowing yourself to distress as a business owner by taking a vacation.  Listen as I share  some tips for planning an interrupted vacation from your business.

Tips for Planning an Interrupted Vacation From Your Business

1.  Plan your vacation in advance - To enjoy a worry-free vacation, you must plan and organize everything from when your business slows down and when to take a break, who to delegate tasks and meetings to while you're on vacation, and finishing up your job a week before your trip. One of the most crucial planning tips is to start planning at least 6 months before your vacation.

2.  Assign a primary point of contact to stand for you while you’re away - As previously stated, you must know who to delegate tasks to while on vacation. That person must be a reliable member of your company who can manage tasks responsibly and make decisions while you are away. Two critical tips for this to work are to hand over your SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) to that person for smooth transitions and to leave a line for them to contact you for small guidance if concerns are raised while you are away.

3. Inform your clients of your vacation - You must notify your clients ahead of time that you will be away so that they won't get disappointed if they are unable to communicate directly with you while you are away. It also demonstrates respect to your clients that you are not ignoring them by being unavailable. Inform them about your trip as soon as possible.

4. Stay ahead of important tasks - Like what I mentioned in tip number one, before you leave, make sure that all of your important and urgent tasks are completed or delegated to capable hands.

5. Be proactive in possible issues - Major events should be avoided while you're away or near the date of your vacation, like having any product launches or contract signings around the time of your trip unless you have people who can handle those things for you while you are away. You can choose to postpone major decisions until after your vacation. More importantly, ensure that your team is aware of the goals and objectives that have been established for various tasks, and that your team members have all of the tools necessary to complete the tasks on time. This is to ensure that the tasks you delegated are completed correctly.

6. Commit to relaxing - While being such a hardworking entrepreneur and trying to juggle everything on your own is admirable, I would also like to encourage you to take a break from time to time. When you finally decide to take a vacation and do all of the things I've mentioned, give yourself some leeway and just enjoy your free time.
