In this episode I have two movies for you. Both released in 2024 but released in theaters near my this week.One movie is The Penguin Lessons a comedy-drama film directed by Peter Cattaneo based on the 2015 memoir by Tom Michell, a British teacher who taught at a boys' boarding school in Argentina in the 1970s. While there, he rescued a penguin which he found soaked with oil on a beach in the Uruguayan resort of Punta del Este. He saved the penguin which then kept following him and so he took it back to the school, where it became a popular pet. The other movie is The Friend an American drama film written and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel. Based on the 2018 novel by Sigrid Nunez, it stars Naomi Watts, Bill Murray, Sarah Pidgeon, Carla Gugino, Constance Wu, and Ann Dowd. It had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and screened in the Gala section at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
