On September 11, 2001 terrorists attacked the World Trade Center and the United States was thrown into a war in the far off country of Afghanistan. Most Americans were watching in horror that day and felt a sudden surge of patriotism, but a select few heard the call of duty and enlisted to fight in the upcoming conflict. The country was shocked when one of these men turned out to be a professional football player from the NFL who had decided to forgo millions of dollars and instead joined the Army in order to serve his country. Unfortunately, his story would have a tragic end that the US government would desperately attempt to cover up. In this first part we're telling you about this man's childhood and all of the events that led to him joining the armed forces. It's a highly intriguing story and you will definitely want to come back next week to listen to the rage-inducing conclusion. But for now, grab a drink, settle in, and enjoy this episode of Hundred Proof History titled Pat Tillman Part I: Cardinal Red Blooded American!
