How to get customers through Social Media Posts
“If we're putting all of this time and energy into creating posts for social media, we want them to work.”
Brooke Elder
Podcast 132 is another episode of “Spam Squad” where Brooke dives into how to get customers on Social Media without being spammy and how to post authentically.
Brooke shares a post that she found on Facebook and breaks it down into why it is not an effective post. Then she gives examples of how to reconstruct a more positive and intriguing post.
“Whenever you’re doing any posts on Social Media you want to grab their attention and hook them in.” - Brooke Elder.
So what's the goal of a post, what's the motive, what's the goal? When you're going to craft a post to be able to achieve that goal, do it in a way that actually is going to get results.
Posts cannot be vague or broad, they need to be specific. It comes down to what is that one problem you solve, who is your avatar and what is your niche?
You have to tell people what to do. You want to almost treat people like they're first graders. And it's not to say that the intelligence of our audiences is on a first grade level. That's not it at all. It's just that we have so many things that are going on in our heads.
We need to interrupt the pattern of what we're doing on social media. Why do you go on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram. We don't go there to say, “Oh, I have a problem. I'm in a search for this to see if I can get some help with this.” That's not why people go on social media. They go on to see what their friends are doing and what they are up to. Or it's like, “I’ve got 10 minutes. I don't know what else to do.” It's now become a habit because our phones are part of our lives.
Strategy on Pinterest is a little bit different because you can create pins and things that are on how to solve the problem, so you can be a little more direct. On Facebook we have to think of ways that we can interrupt the pattern and it has to be about them.
“There's not any product that's out there that doesn't solve a problem.” - Brooke Elder.
