The DYOJO Podcast Episode 14 - Pro vs. Joe 002

Pro vs. Joe is a collaboration between Bryan "The Joe" Close, Director of Operations for All American Real Estate Services (Tacoma, WA) and Jon "The Pro" Isaacson, Project Manager for 3 Kings Environmental, Inc. (Vancouver & Tacoma, WA). The hosts bring their diverse experiences to this show for your listening pleasure.

Bryan has been in construction, business development and property management for many years but is new to the process of working within the insurance claims paradigm. You will find it refreshing to experience his excitement for learning this industry.

Most know Jon from his extensive wikipedia page and interviews from R&R magazine with Michelle Blevins and Episode 5 of the GMS Podcast with Gerret Stier, he has been working in property restoration for over 17 years. All our listeners also religiously read his monthly column with Restoration & Remediation Magazine (R&R) "The Intentional Restorer.

PVJ is something new. For Pro vs. Joe, Bryan and Jon will mix their thoughts on culture, discussions about business and in general try to have a good time. You can see the action on Youtube and listen on The DYOJO Podcast. Thank you for your support and if you have any feedback or ideas hit us up on IG (@thedyojopodcast).

For Episode 002 of Pro vs. Joe, Bryan and Jon discuss:

The NFL Draft, the first (and hopefully last) ever conducted over Zoom. There were some funny moments, bloopers and fails as has been the case with companies adapting to remote work while utilizing this tool.

Bad NBA trades such as the Seattle Supersonics swapping Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice or the Portland Trailblazers passing on Michael Jordan because they had Clyde Drexler and choosing Sam Bowie instead. The Blazers would later repeat their mistakes when they passed on Kevin Durant in favor of Greg Oden because they already had LaMarcus Aldridge.

Miscommunication and poor ad placements that lead to awkward, funny and terrible associations of products with the wrong messaging. Items that were touted as the next big thing but flopped such as Crystal Clear Pepsi, New Coke, the Microsoft Zune, that funky U2 album that released on Apple.

We discuss Episode 2 of The DYOJO Podcast, a discussion on emergency management and preparedness with Edward Colson of Ready NW as well as the great toilet paper shortage of 2020.

Last episode covered how Bryan and Jon met, in this segment we dig a bit deeper into their professional relationship and the nature of hiring a business coach to help your company grow. What are the key things to look for when making decisions on who you do and do not want to work with as a business?
