Wild Sobriety

Ep. #142 Black and White Drinking

Listen Later

When we are changing our relationship to anything, we face resistance.
When drinking is black and white, it's on and off.
Good or bad.
You can't see your way through all of the unhelpful thoughts your mind gives you about the future of NEVER drinking again, and why that is doom and gloom.
It creates black and white thinking, which has you going in one direction, to the past and moderation.
Either you'll be a drinker forever and you resign yourself to it or you're life will be empty.
When you use the process of the five shifts I teach in the Stop Drinking and Start Living Program, you create a rainbow of thinking.
You see, what do I want more of today?
Why would I NOT drink?
One circumstance at a time, you reduce your desire to drink.
You celebrate that moment and fuel your energy to ask again and again.
What do I want more of today?
Why am I drinking?
What is one thing I can do today with what I have?
