Communication is truly a complex art. Authentic communication is an even more complex art. Louder doesn’t mean more right or effective. And silence doesn’t mean a weaker position or lack of perspective. What’s important is to notice how we receive information and how we express it. Are we trying to be right and prove a point? What is the energy driving our speaking? How much do we care about understanding the perspectives of the other side? To become an authentic communicator requires patience, trust, faith, vulnerability, courage, and a deep, loving sense of safety within oneself.
We’re not seeking to understand first and foremost
The dilemma of communicating wants and needs
The louder we are, the less we’re heard
Everything doesn’t have to be a debate
Lack of safety in communication
Trying to fix our lack of “good enoughness”
