I was wondering what @everyone would consider the best year for game releases? It could be just the year your favourite games were released or just the best in terms of quality games released that year.

I can't say what year specifically as it was 5 glorious years but GAMECUBE. Need I say more haha

It’s 1998 for me, mostly because of Ocarina of Time. That year also saw such greats as Half Life, Metal Gear Solid, Banjo Kazooie, Starcraft, F-Zero X, Mario Party, Pokemon Red & Blue, and Resident Evil 2. The wrestling fan within me would be remiss not to mention WCW/nWo Revenge as well. 15 year old me had plenty to be excited about that year!
Had to edit my answer to include Pokemon Red & Blue, how could I forget that? Granted, I was never into Pokémon but it has a huge place in history.

That is so difficult!  I’m most nostalgic for the games that came out between’85-‘91 (NES) closely followed by the SNES years. ‘93-‘94 was a great couple years with SNES and GB. If I’m objective though I believe that the BEST year in gaming was probably 2017 with the release of the Switch and BotW, Mario Odyssey, and so much more. Best launch year for any console in my opinion. The 3DS was also turning out a lot of great games still.
