This episode details the importance of loving unconditionally. “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” is what Jesus specified to us is the second most important commandment. To love unconditionally not only entails putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, but it is adhering to how they are as well. What this entails is loving them despite their struggle, situation, or circumstance is. It oftentimes is difficult for us to love others unconditionally because we see their blind spots before they do.
Coming from someone who has walked out of many storms with new awareness and new insight, these glimmers of hope typically only come when the circumstance that caused the problem has ceased. Providing advice and offering clarity to someone is great to show you love them.
My challenge to you is to love them even when they don’t take the advice you’ve offered. To love someone in their challenges and to love them when you know they could do better for themselves is a difficult thing to do, but it must be done.
Having community and friendships/relationships that love unconditionally is what can change the atmosphere of the environment that not only you are in, but those around you, having a culminating effect on society. I encourage you to cultivate love at the center of your relationships and friendships, the true way that God has designed for us to have.
