The Dry Ground Podcast: Exploring Ancient Scripture for Today

Ep. 2 - Exodus: Torah Trail Blaze (Part 2)

Listen Later

We are continuing our discussion on the Torah from last week. In episode 1 we talked about the importance of reading and understating the torah story as Christians in todays world. We started talking about Torah Trail Blazes… these are the foundational pillars of the torah story that every Christian should seek to understand. They help to shape the overarching meta-narrative of the Old Testament and thus also the story of our Lord, King Jesus. In the last episode we made it through the first trail blaze…[Genesis 1-11] The story of Yahweh’s creation and the origins of humankind. This world he creates is both great and terrible at the same time. He creates an ideal world were he can dwell intimately with his creation, but they (we) are very effective at making a mess of everything.

Today, in episode 2, we are going to continue our conversation on these important moments in the Torah story.

We will be talking about the 4 remaining trail blazes:

  • Genesis 12-50 – Yahweh and the beginnings of Abraham’s family
  • Exodus 1-15 – The Story of Moses, the deliverer and the Exodus from Egypt
  • Exodus 16-Numbers 36 – The story of the sojourn to Sinai and the peoples reception of the covenant
  • Deuteronomy– This is Moses’ final address to the people of Israel and the promises of Israel’s future covenant with Yahweh.

We have a lot of ground to cover today so hang in there. We are excited to continue this conversation with you!
