Amy Giannotti is a Dietitian, Sports Dietitian, Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher from Melbourne Australia and has worked in the health and fitness industry for over 10 years.
Amy thought she was following all the right signs for health and fitness, she had the "abs" , was eating "healthy" and was very successful in sports including qualifying for the Australian Triathlon Team for her age group. With a Type A, perfectionist personality she always did her best but there was always one sign that deep down told her things were not quite right. She was not getting her period. Amy did not have a period for 7 years. The journey to recovering her period, otherwise known as Hypothalamic Amenorrhea was the most challenging yet rewarding journey of her life. It took her on a path of uncovering limiting self-beliefs of "I am not special enough" that were laid down after challenging childhood events and were driving destructive behaviours. She was forced to let go of her "ego" or "identity" as Amy the "runner", "triathlete", "fit girl" and "hardworking", which she feared most. Although letting go resulted in an enormous transformation, self-discovery and finding inner peace.
Through this experience Amy uncovered how harmful and how common our innocent pursuit for thinness and performance has become and how off track we are with it aligning with enhancing health and happiness, especially when it comes to dieting where we are told to ignore our bodies. This journey transformed Amy on a personal and professional level. Prescribing weight loss no longer felt ethical! Amy found confidence to niche down to helping others overcome disordered eating, compulsive exercise and guiding them to reconnect and trust their bodies. She is also extremely passionate about raising awareness that no period is NOT OK and helps her clients overcome fears to make healthy behaviour changes to recovering their period and fertility!
