Hey Clemson Family, the second week of the Tigers football season showed some new successes on offense, but some surprisingly persistent troubles also were visible for the vaunted Clemson defense this year – and it remains to be seen whether those issues will be a trend or an early glitch. The Tigers have maintained a bend-but-don’t-break mentality on D and kept opponents at an average of 11 points per game in the first two weeks of the 2022 season, but one major problem has been obvious against ACC opponent Georgia Tech and FCS opponent Furman – and Daniel Shirley points out it must get resolved before the schedule gets tougher with a road game against defending ACC Atlantic Division champion Wake Forest coming up in Week 4 and N.C. State coming to Death Valley in Week 5 looking for its second straight win in the Textile Bowl rivalry. Reasons for optimism shone through, however, in the offense’s performance as quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei put up strong statistics in the first half this week and generally had the offense moving in much more effective fashion (as it should have, admittedly, against a lower-tier opponent).
