Clemson football is 4-2 after shutting out Charleston Southern 37-0, but the Tigers have a serious offensive problem. Through six games, Clemson ranks 138th nationally in passing touchdowns with just TWO and 107th in passing plays of 20 yards or more.
On today's Locked On Clemson, Morgan Thomas explains why the passing offense is becoming a major concern for Dabo Swinney, Chad Morris, and the Tigers heading into the second half of the season.

Clemson football is entering what feels like a second season, and Dabo Swinney's Tigers have seven games remaining to change the direction of their year. But can Clemson really go 7-0, and would finishing 10-2 mean the program is back?

Clemson's defensive line is finally showing signs of improvement, but is the progress real, and is this group actually better than last season?

On today's Locked On Clemson, Morgan Thomas breaks down Clemson's defensive front following its performance against Miami. The Tigers generated 16 quarterback pressures, with 14 coming from defensive linemen. Players like London Merritt, Jaheim Lawson, Will Heldt, Andy Burburija, and Darien Mayo are giving Tom Allen more options up front.

But there's another side to the conversation. Miami still found success running the football, and Clemson's sack production is behind last season's pace. Are we seeing meaningful development, or are expectations simply lower after a disappointing start?

Clemson’s defensive line entered the season looking like one of the biggest weaknesses on the roster. A month later, that evaluation may be changing.

Morgan Thomas breaks down why Clemson’s defensive-front improvement looks increasingly real after the Tigers generated 14 of their 16 pressures against Miami with defensive linemen.

The bigger development may be what that pressure unlocks for Tom Allen. If Clemson can consistently rush four and drop seven into coverage, Allen no longer has to manufacture pressure with constant blitzing. That gives Clemson more coverage flexibility, protects the secondary and makes Allen’s pressure packages even more dangerous.

The run defense still has something to prove, but the defensive line no longer looks like Clemson’s fatal flaw.

Now the bigger question may be on the other side of the ball: Can Clemson’s offense become consistent enough to take advantage of a defense that is starting to give it opportunities?

Tait Reynolds is gaining valuable experience for Clemson in 2026, but should that automatically make him the Tigers’ starting quarterback in 2027?
Morgan Thomas breaks down Clemson’s quarterback timeline from Cade Klubnik to Christopher Vizzina to Reynolds, and why the current situation should be viewed as more than simply a successful development year for a freshman quarterback.
Clemson entered 2026 believing Vizzina was ready. When that plan failed, Reynolds was forced onto the field. Those live reps can absolutely help Reynolds develop, but they should not become the reason Clemson avoids legitimate quarterback competition next offseason.
We also look at why Clemson’s easier remaining schedule could complicate the evaluation. If the Tigers finish 8-4 or 9-3, will winning create the narrative that Reynolds has already earned the 2027 job?
The standard should be simple: Tait Reynolds has earned the right to compete for the Clemson starting quarterback job. He has not earned the right to be protected from competition.
