Clemson beat Georgia Southern 22-7, but the scoreboard does not tell the story. After getting blown out by LSU, Clemson needed to show that its offensive problems were largely the result of facing an elite defensive front. Instead, the Tigers produced just one offensive touchdown, struggled again on third down and relied on Nolan Hauser for five field goals. Morgan Thomas explains why the Georgia Southern win actually lowered his confidence in Clemson, why the LSU performance no longer looks like an isolated problem, and why Clemson’s strange combination of very few offensive touchdowns and a huge number of field goals says so much about this offense. The discussion also gets into Chad Morris, Christopher Vizzina’s injury, Tait Reynolds, Clemson’s offensive line, the “development” argument and why simply getting better is not the standard for a program that expects to compete for championships. With North Carolina next, Clemson needs more than another win. It needs to show that this offense is actually capable of becoming something the Tigers can win with. 00:00 Clemson Won, But I Feel Worse 03:28 Is Clemson Just a Mediocre Team? 05:15 Georgia Southern Proved LSU Wasn’t the Only Problem 06:32 Clemson Goes 1-for-13 on Third Down 08:52 Clemson’s Quarterback Problem Gets More Complicated 15:57 Clemson Can Move the Ball, But Can’t Finish 17:58 Nolan Hauser Might Be Clemson’s Offensive MVP 19:24 Why This Offense Can’t Keep Up With Good Teams 21:30 Does Clemson Even Know How to Fix This? 25:10 Stop Celebrating “Development” 31:04 Best Is the Standard 33:23 The Clemson Painting Still Doesn’t Make Sense 35:06 North Carolina Becomes the Next Real Test Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Clemson didn’t simply lose to LSU. The Tigers were completely outplayed in a 51-10 defeat that raises uncomfortable questions about where the program goes from here. Morgan Thomas breaks down why this loss feels bigger than one bad Saturday, including Clemson’s problems at the line of scrimmage, the offensive rebuild that failed to show up against LSU, and the growing concern that Dabo Swinney may be running out of solutions. Then we get into the toughest comparison of the episode: has Clemson entered its version of the late Bobby Bowden era at Florida State? Dabo built Clemson’s championship standard. But after another major loss on the national stage, has that same standard become the one he is struggling to reach? Also discussed: Chad Morris, Matt Luke, Tom Allen, Clemson’s talent evaluation, player development, the transfer portal, and what this performance says about the direction of the Tigers. Clemson does not need to spend opening night trying to beat LSU’s biggest stars. Morgan Thomas breaks down the areas Clemson should actively hunt against Lane Kiffin’s Tigers, starting with Weston Davis and Bo Bordelon along LSU’s offensive line. Can Jaheim Lawson, Will Heldt, Sammy Brown and Amare Adams force LSU to change its protection without Tom Allen having to blitz constantly? Then the focus shifts to LSU’s young defensive interior. Deuce Geralds and Richard Anderson are extremely talented, but Clemson should make those freshmen prove they can handle double teams, movement and a physical running game for four quarters. Finally, Chad Morris gets his opportunity to create conflict at LSU’s STAR position, using Bryant Wesco Jr., T.J. Moore, motion and formation changes to force that defender into difficult decisions. The strategy is simple: don’t play LSU’s recruiting rankings. Make its least-proven players win the game. 00:00 Clemson’s plan to attack LSU’s question marks 01:22 Why Clemson should hunt LSU’s soft spots 03:41 Weston Davis becomes the first target 06:28 Pressure-testing Weston Davis and Bo Bordelon 07:14 Clemson cannot rely on heavy blitzing 13:45 LSU’s freshman defensive tackles face their first real test 15:49 How Clemson should attack Deuce Geralds and Richard Anderson 17:14 Clemson’s running game has to prove itself 18:23 The halftime rushing benchmark 23:06 Chad Morris attacks LSU’s STAR position 24:44 Using Bryant Wesco Jr. and motion to create conflict 27:03 The challenge for Chad Morris against Blake Baker 27:52 Don’t play LSU’s recruiting rankings 30:10 Keeping perspective on the season opener Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Clemson’s offensive line was overwhelmed against LSU, and almost every offensive problem flowed from what happened up front. Morgan Thomas breaks down why Clemson could not establish the run, why play action never had a chance, why the passing game became so limited, and how LSU consistently created confusion and pressure against a young Tigers offensive line. But this episode goes beyond simply blaming Brayden Jacobs, Elyjah Thurmon, Ronan O’Connell, or the other young linemen. Clemson entered the season after losing a massive amount of experience from Blake Miller, Tristan Leigh, Walker Parks, and Ryan Linthicum. So why was this roster allowed to enter Baton Rouge without more proven help? That brings the discussion back to Matt Luke, Dabo Swinney, player development, recruiting, and Clemson’s decisions in the transfer portal. Was LSU simply good enough to expose a young offensive line, or did Clemson create this problem long before kickoff? Which LSU players should Clemson fans be most worried about in the season opener? Morgan Thomas breaks down the biggest individual threats Clemson will face in Baton Rouge, starting with Princewill Umanmielen and his matchup against Clemson’s young offensive line. Sam Leavitt brings another challenge with his ability to stress a defense both as a passer and runner, while Trey’Dez Green creates a major problem in the red zone. The conversation also turns to Clemson’s answers. Can Braden Jacobs hold up on the edge? Can Amare Adams give Clemson the interior disruption it needs? How important will Sammy Brown be against LSU’s running game? And can Corey Myrick help Clemson deal with Green’s size? LSU has plenty of talent, but Clemson has players capable of answering those challenges. These are the matchups that could decide whether Clemson can hang around and win in Baton Rouge. 00:00 LSU’s biggest threats against Clemson 03:28 Princewill Umanmielen vs. Clemson’s offensive line 07:49 Why Trey’Dez Green is a matchup problem 14:13 LSU’s next group of players to watch 17:48 Whit Weeks and LSU’s linebacker threat 23:15 Which Clemson players have to step up 25:37 Amare Adams and Clemson’s defensive front Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
