In 1941, Adolph Hitler and Nazi Germany launched a surprise invasion of the Soviet Union, which was controlled by Joseph Stalin.  The six month operation would result in utter destruction.  Millions would be captured.  Millions of soldiers would die.  Over a million Jews would be systematically executed.
