Our guest this week on the Aditi Surana show is 28-year-old Zoya Thomas Lobo from Mumbai, who, with her unshakeable determination, has has become India’s first trans photojournalist. From seeking alms in trains, doing odd jobs to clicking pictures for national and international publications, Zoya has risen after falling through the cracks.
Based in Mumbai, Zoya grew up in a Christian community. She received convent education till class five, but dropped out at an early age. After her father's demise, Zoya and her family were forced to leave their home owing to a dispute and were forced to move in with her mother’s sister in Mahim, where Zoya spent most of her early years. She and her family had to move frequently. On her way to buy a violin, she stumbled upon a shop that sold used cameras. Zoya decided to give her passion a try.
From landing a huge opportunity with the Canadian publication La Presse, turning a face model for Kay Beauty, and to being featured on Google India’s banners, Zoya Lobo says she still has a long way to go and looks forward to bigger achievements in the future.
