Over the past decade, Matt Jackisch has combined his love of travel, adventure, and storytelling through the language of landscape photography. He finds a unique satisfaction in uncovering visual harmony between geometry and light, describing the process as similar to solving a mathematical equation. His approach is grounded in exploration, patience, and precise timing, allowing him to interpret nature through moments of clarity and visual balance.
Time spent in remote environments has shaped Matt’s worldview, fostering a deep awareness of humanity’s relationship with the natural world. He recognises the fragility of Earth’s remaining original ecosystems and sees his work as a way of preserving their memory. Through his images, Matt seeks to express simplicity, order, reverence, and at times, raw power—qualities he believes reflect the true essence of nature’s design.
Matt is committed to honest visual storytelling. While he uses advanced digital techniques to overcome technical limitations, his priority remains the integrity of the scene and the authenticity of human perception. Photography, for him, is not about creating fantasy but revealing deeper layers of reality. Guided by mentors early in his journey, he now shares his knowledge through workshops and creative critiques. His photographic pursuits have taken him across the Himalayas, Patagonia, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Pakistan, Lebanon, and beyond. Alongside his creative life, Matt has worked as an Air Traffic Controller since 2004 and is currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
