Carmen Avalos is a recently retired educator from Pueblo School District 70. She spent nine years in Pueblo District 60 as a teacher and 17 years as a principal at Avondale Elementary. Her love for teaching children to read inspired her to become a principal. She loves working with underprivileged children and their families in hope that they, too, will overcome the obstacles of poverty and become very successful individuals.
