In 1519, Magellan left Spain sailing west 5 ships and 260 men in search of the Spice Islands. What followed was an adventure that can only be compared to a trip to the moon but without radio assistance from Houston. Adventure, mistrust, mutiny, death, and disease lurked around every corner. Zach and Rafe discuss the first part of this journey, from summertime Spain to the perilous winter of 1520 at Port St Julian in present day southern Argentina, and the lessons learned along the way.
