If you’re also maintaining Snapchat streaks or “little fire” friendships on social media—collecting interaction points through daily chats—while secretly feeling a hint of emptiness during all those online interactions, then this episode is for you.

We invited Tim to talk with us about why it can sometimes feel like we’re talking every day, yet still not experiencing a real connection. After Linsey brought up the idea that modern humans may be having an unhealthy reaction to the social side of social media, Tim gently but firmly pointed out that it has always been difficult to find interactions online that truly touch the soul. Danni then raised another possibility: what if we are trying to adapt to a new environment using old rules? And if that’s the case, how should our understanding evolve in response to these new rules and this new environment?

At the same time, friends jokingly called out Linsey for stopping her English livestreams, which also made her realize how important a “space” or “environment” can be. But it also left her feeling grateful—because among all the people who come and go, real connections do exist after all.
