It's too easy to promote yourself these days.

Or, is it?

Seems to me that there are a million ways to shout your name from the roofs tops but not very many that are successful.

However, we've been made to believe that it's a must to get anywhere in life and a career.

I have seen a lot of content recently about getting your boss to recognize you.

There's no doubt it's important to recognized. It helps you have confidence. It helps you improve with motivation. And it's just nice to noticed.

The problem is we have built environments that rely way too much on self-celebtation and it's ultimately limiting to our abilities and performance.

I have some strong thoughts on why we have these environments and some ideas of how to avoid them and the feeling of inadequacy.

After all, a generous culture can't have that.
