How do you get people to do what you want them to do? You can try motivating them with punishments and/or rewards (the “stick & carrot” approach). Or you can strive to inspire by casting vision, setting expectations, and giving options. The latter takes more effort and finesse, but overall I think it’s healthier and more effective.
