(Ep. 300) #TSRP “Leaning Into Those Uncle Vibes”

Listen Later

We’ve made it to 300 y’all! Took a while, but we’re here, and not only that, we’ve been celebrating Spann’s 40th Birthday, AND Juneteeth, AND Father’s Day this weekend. Needless to say, this time in June has been what the kids say is LIT! So we get episode 300 kicked off with a few of Spann’s Random Thoughts from the past week before we roll on over In The News, where the police officers who shot Rayshard Brooks in the back in Atlanta will be charged for his killing. Michigan is one of 3 states that have shown that they are on track to containing COVID-19. Meanwhile, Florida sees 2 consecutive days of 2000+ new Coronavirus cases as they start to reopen the beaches in the state. And Facebook has gotten around to removing Trump campaign ads for violating their ‘organized hate’ policy.

Then it’s Blue Blazes time, where a health care worker went to a bar with 15 friends, and they all contracted the Coronavirus. Noted racist and white Nationalist, Richard Spencer says he can’t afford his legal fees in the Unite The Right case as it moves through the courts. An alleged police officer cried over a damn McMuffin because she had to wait a few more minutes for it. And Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and the dude on the Cream of Wheat box are about to be retired as companies NOW have decided to get rid of their racist iconography.

And in Proud To Be An American, we actually have SOME things to be proud of as Senate Democrats introduced a bill to make Juneteenth a Federal Holiday. The Supreme Court has been surprising the whole damn country with some of it’s more recent rulings, and they’ve just ruled that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 also applies to protect the rights of gay and transgender workers. In Oklahoma City, black gun owners plan a pro second amendment walk on the same day that Trump holds a rally in Tulsa. And the Orange Fuher has gone full Kanye, and declared that he made Juneteenth famous!

Then of course, we wrap up the show with our Champ of The Week like always. So let’s get to it, it’s been sort of a special week, let’s get to this special show, with the Real Talk, ALL THE TIME right here on The Spann Report!
