The end of 2025 saw the first bear hunt in Florida in a decade. It was a long and arduous journey with plenty of opposition from the anti hunting community that still continues to this day. 2026 will see the introduction of hounds in the form of a training season and then in 2027 they’ll get their real introduction when they’re allowed to be used to pursue bears. This year saw baiting legalized on private lands and a successful harvest of 52 bears during the 22 day season. This week we are joined by Frank Richardson who was able to successfully harvest a bear and Donny Miley of Coast Runner Outfitters who helped make it happen.
