My daughter is finishing up her first year of college, and, while I'm sure she's learned A LOT, I feel like I'm the one learning! So today, I wanted to share with you 3 lessons I've learned from my daughter's first year of college.
Lesson number 1: I know a lot of people like to say that college isn't for everyone. And while it may be true that not everyone needs a college degree, there is value in the education and experiences you have in college, even if you're not entirely sure you know what you want to do after college.
Lesson number 2: Don't negatively influence someone else's perspectives of their own experiences. Allow people the freedom of their own experiences without projecting whatever negative thoughts you may have formed in the past when you may have experienced something similar.
Lesson number 3: Be open to people's guidance and mentorship without feeling the need to agree with everything they say or follow every suggestion they offer. Take the time to recognize the value in their perspective while also deciding for yourself what that perspective actually means to you.
