Danny Wu is a Canadian filmmaker from Vancouver, British Columbia. He is best known for the films Square One, a film about the Michael Jackson allegations, and his current film, American: An Odyssey to 1947. The latter which was placed on Jonathan Rosenbaum’s list for "best films of 2022."

 

American: An Odyssey to 1947, follows the rise and fall of Orson Welles, while interweaving stories of diverse individuals amidst the backdrop of the Great Depression, World War II, and the dropping of the atomic bomb.

 

Director Danny Wu sheds light on the defining moments that shaped the destinies of the subjects, and the nation's collective consciousness in 1947. A riveting film indeed.
