On this solo episode of the show, I talk about how true creative freedom and fulfillment comes from the grind. It’s counterintuitive, but we all have hours to fill in a day. If we fill those hours with work that we find meaningful, challenging, and enjoyable, our lives are thereby much more fulfilling. This is why chasing wealth for its own sake is a trap, and why so many super rich people seem to miserable and resentful all the time. It’s also why when I buy a ticket for a $1 billion Powerball jackpot, I know I’m buying the 10 minutes of fantasy, but I’m also buying a weird paranoia about the disappearance of a familiar grind I now find rewarding.

Also, I share a trick I learned from Chuck Klosterman about how to better enjoy the present. You have to listen for me to give it up, but I’ll just say that nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
