Question of the week
InfiniteBlue — 06/02/2021
Here's a question for everyone:
What's a game that had RNG (aka random chance) greatly affect your experience with it, for better or for worse?
RNG has been on my mind a lot lately as I've recently finished 100%ing Pokemon Stadium 2. There were countless instances where my strategy would have completely shut down the CPU opponents, only to be foiled by a convenient string of bad luck to give the CPU a cheesy win.
On the flip side, that same RNG was enormously satisfying the times when it went my way, giving me a fighting chance using the underpowered rental Pokemon. There were a couple times in the Challenge Cup where a timely critical or miss was the only way to even reach a winnable state.
Flightsy — 06/02/2021
For my Kirby’s Dream Land letsplay (yes I know I won’t shut up about it), for the 1 vitality 1 life run, trying to beat Kabula was practically up to RNG. She fires so fast it’s impossible to consciously predict, so I had to rely on muscle memory built up over months and luck. I’d say that effected my experience.
Sam: XCOM 2, Crusader kings 2, 3, Fire emblem
Iron man mode really forces a different way of playing. They should add that to fire emblem!

If this hasn’t already been asked, what are some of your favorite “continue” screens? Street Fighter 2 with the character’s face all pummeled in comes to mind for me.
solo_something — 06/04/2021
That one comes into my mind as well and Kid Icarus running across the sky ridge thing and shooting up at your score
16bitnomad — 06/04/2021
The final fight series was pretty good…dynamite, water, and spikes!!
SpiderShan — Yesterday at 5:54 AM
Does the one for Zelda 2 count? It was more the laugh than anything else!(Game Over… Return of Ganon)
