How important is what we wear when it comes to getting the job, getting the promotion or getting the engagement of our audience?

In this day and age should we still be judging someone's ability on how they wear their hair or what their trousers are made of?

Should we be discounting our human tendency to make judgements about people or is it a part of human nature that we can't change or ignore?
