Do you NEED an ADHD diagnosis or is it ok to self identify? In this week's podcast I'm sharing my own thoughts on whether I think a formal diagnosis is necessary as a woman who was late diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 56.

There's a wave of Gen X women being late diagnosed with ADHD - and it's causing a bit of a stir! Many of these women are making the decision to change direction in later life and, as a Gen X Late Diagnosed ADHDer who redesigned my own life at the age of 52, I can tell you it's the best thing I ever did.
In this episode of the Generation Exceptional Podcast I'm chatting with ADHD career coach and late diagnosed ADHDer Rachel Gaddis all about how we can reframe some of the limiting beliefs that stop us living the next chapter in alignment with what's actually important to us.
Rachel is a career transition coach who focuses on helping ADHD women over 40, particularly women who’ve been recently diagnosed. As a career transition coach who was diagnosed with inattentive-type ADHD at age 44, she understands firsthand the profound impact such a diagnosis can have on one’s professional and personal life. Using co-active coaching methodology, Rachel assists clients in aligning their professional paths with their core values and innate strengths. Her approach is profoundly influenced by her personal experience of a late ADHD diagnosis, overcoming breast cancer, embracing her 50s, and executing a major career shift. Rachel's extensive background in career research, encompassing countless articles, books, and assessments, has enabled her to turn her personal journey into a powerful tool for guiding others. She offers empathetic and strategic coaching, helping mid-career professionals, especially women, to embrace change and craft careers that offer genuine fulfillment and purpose.

In this podcast I’m calling out some popular business advice that just doesn’t work for my ADHD brain. You’ve probably heard these so-called “must-dos” from countless business gurus, but I want to share with you why they might be doing more harm than good. I’ll break down the five business norms that I've ditched and why you should consider doing the same, especially if you’re an entrepreneur with ADHD or just tired of one-size-fits-all advice.

Last week I did a live stream over on my Youtube channel talking all about changing career in midlife and how I have a theory that we all reach a midlife turning point - but perhaps we don't all make the turn.
Here's an edited version (without all the chit chat and waffle) where I share my experience of changing direction in my 50s and what I'd do differently if I did it again.
If you fancy watching the whole livestream you can catch it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/GYgFQluhgZI?si=NsBHGOfFGYeslTQj

The hardest thing we have to do when we start a business isn't learning how to manage a business, but learning how to manage what's going on in our head - our negative self-talk.
Affirmations are a powerful way to reframe negative self talk into positive, motivators that can keep us pushing through when things feel tough.
Let me know if you are a fan of affirmations or not. And if you got 'lines' at school, let me know if you can remember what they were!

After more than 6 months I've finally been offered some support from Access to Work - Join me as I'm sharing my experience of the process and what happens next. Hi, I'm Bev and as a late diagnosed ADHDer I finally plucked up the courage to tackle the minefield that is applying for help from the government! I'm not great a asking for help and I'm even worse at asking for help from the Government - so many forms to fill in and hoops to jump through! Anyway, I did it and I also recorded my first ever solo Youtube livestream - and this is the recording from that livestream. I hope you enjoy it and if you have any advice for me about appealing my outcome or doing a better job on my application next time around, I'd be so grateful!
