The attraction of experimenting with how different ingredients can impact the human condition has existed in human society for centuries.  

From the fermentation of fruit to wine, to picking specific species of mushroom, the evolution of drugs within society has seen the shift from chasing euphoria, to chasing millions of dollars.  

With this, there is an ever-growing flood of illegal and illicit drugs that is a worldwide problem.  In Australia's capital city of Canberra, a 6-month trial will be conducted (funded by the taxpayer), aiming to test the contents of illicit party drugs to deem them as being "safe" and free from highly toxic chemicals.  

With so many 'bad batches' of pills and powders flooding society, is this trial the answer to a way forward in dealing with such toxic cocktails of potentially life-threatening substances?
