Diva Diaz shares a perspective on neurodiversity when living with autism, OCD, ADD or ADHD. Diva discourages trying to fit into a box or ‘masking’, a common practice where people disguise behaviours and their true self to appear “normal” and feel accepted by society. Diva always knew her brain worked differently; she could never do things in a linear way, and she found tasks that were easy for others extremely difficult. As a child, she’d want to contemplate the universe rather than play, learning to mask behaviours to appear “normal.” Diagnosed with high-functioning autism in adulthood, everything then made sense. There is much to learn from taking a different perspective to try to "fit" in.
