In this eerie autumn episode of Sasquatch and Sourdough, we ride into the mists of Sleepy Hollow — where ghostly legends and human pride collide. Beneath Washington Irving’s timeless tale lies a deeper warning: the religious spirit that haunted believers of his day — a prideful, cold faith that choked out wonder and grace.
But Ichabod Crane’s story didn’t begin in that haunted valley. He came from Connecticut, carrying the stiff piety and superstition of a culture caught between revival and repression. When he crossed the Hudson, he brought with him something far older — the spirit of fear disguised as faith.
From there, we follow the trail back home — to the Housatonic Valley, where whispers of old revivals and darker echoes still stir. In the cursed woods of Dudleytown, we find a faith gone silent, where even the wind seems to remember what humanity forgot. And in Easton’s Union Cemetery, the White Lady still wanders, torn between grief and grace.
Each legend, each haunting, becomes part of a larger parable: a warning about what happens when faith loses its warmth and mystery is replaced with fear.
“Having a form of godliness but denying its power.” – 2 Timothy 3:5So light your lantern, steady your nerves, and ride with us through the hollows — real and imagined — where the boundary between belief and the beyond grows thin. Because sometimes, the greatest hauntings aren’t in the graveyards…
they’re in the human heart.

Strange stories. True faith.
New Here? Hi! I’m Christina, a follower of Jesus and host of Sasquatch and Sourdough — a podcast exploring the supernatural, faith, and spiritual warfare.
Not every guest shares my beliefs (be they spiritually or culturally). That’s okay. This is a table, not a pulpit. We hold to Scripture, invite the Holy Spirit, and test everything.
“Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits...”Not always suitable for children. Spiritually intense. Biblically grounded.
The truth is out there, God is with you, and everyone always ends up in the kitchen.
