In this episode, we reflect on the comfort of avoiding Islamic knowledge and the false belief that ignorance is bliss. We discuss the shame associated with neglecting secular studies in contrast to the Deen, the fairness of Allah’s judgment for lives lived in disobedience, and why more time would not have changed hearts that chose comfort over growth. We also touch on cultural dynamics—particularly the discomfort some African communities have with boundaries—and the importance of politeness and restraint in speech as part of building better character.
